A stain is a discoloration that can be clearly distinguished from the surface, material, or medium it is found upon. They are caused by the chemical or physical interaction of two dissimilar materials. Accidental staining may make materials appear used, degraded or permanently unclean. Intentional staining is used in biochemical research and for artistic effect, such as wood staining, rust staining and stained glass.

i have tavertine tiles that have not been sealed yet unfortunately permanent marker that was on the plaster has leached through the tiles - how can i remove the stain without having to remove the tile
how can i get this out? ive scrubbed over it with soapy water but the oil has soaked in?

Been a lurker for a while, and now after some help please.
We're bathroom installer's in South London, and recently completed job which had 16m/2 of basalt tiles on the floor.
These were over UFH and Ditra, and rollered with Lithofin stainstop before grouting (by the tiler and me)...
starting tiling at the weekend. full bathroom with tumbled marble border. bought lithofin stain stop. and wondering how to go about sealing. i am going to seal prior to laying and before grouting. is this correct. also how many coats? and what do you all use to apply the sealer. thanks ian
