Evening all,does anyone know the % reading you need to tile onto cement liquid screed using a hair hygrometer ? Virtually all my floors in the near future are going to be cement based.this is probably aimed at Alan jackson(are you out there pal??)

Just the same as regular s/c as I understand it, they can be rapid setting too.
Something worth checking when you find out who’s they are.

The company that's installing them round here (cemfloor) is telling customers 2 weeks and ready to tile !!!
I've just managed to get one down to 72%and that's four to five weeks old with two of them weeks being commisioned !!

Needs to be 75%rh. Possibly 2 weeks in perfect conditions and at probably based on 50mm deep. You'll also probably get told no need to sand. That's rubbish. All screeds should be sanded especially cement based as they have a curing agent sprayed kn them . This is designed to hold the water in as the screed cures. It should be removed after 7 days in order to help drying. Check the CFA guide to contract flooring. Underfloor heating should also be commissioned. You'll also start to see gypsol rapide screeds now as well. Gypsol rapide is a fast drying anhydrite screed which also dries in 14 days based on 50mm. Does it need laitance removal but might still require light sanding to remove site debris. Rapide is also backed up by independent test data. I'm doing 4 rapide jobs this week.

Whilst on the subject of liquid screeds I just found out that I've lost a 90 m2 job (80x80 porc)job due to me refusing to tile till the floor got commisioned.(says he couldn't wait till the utilities get connected??) I even talked to bal to see if I could use flex bone but they wouldn't guarantee it without the floor getting commisioned first.hes now got a part-time plumber in to tile it.

I see many failed jobs onto liquid screeds, cement and gypsum, its quite shocking as there usually a large area. People just don't know how to deal with them and the screed company makes this problem worse by not educating the customer

Spot on localtiler.this particular job I have just lost out on was told by the guy that installed the ufh(probably the same guy that's now installing the tiles )and the liquid screed installer that the floor should be fine to tile without commissioning !!!!! Im just gonna find a wall to bang my head on
