Hello,

I'm about to replace some tiles in a porch that have fallen away. I haven't done these before. Can anyone advise the best adhesive? Does it need a specialist grout? Any other tips on this sort of small job appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

They're porcelain, matt, 600x300x10. The substrate is an average cement render, I would guess. Any advice you have gratefully received.

Thanks.

G.

Hi,

I should have said worn, rather than fallen away, one got cracked at the bottom, and part fell away. But they're still holding alright other than that.

Righteo.. A Porcelain suitable rapid setting adhesive and a porcelain suitable grout of co lour to suit will suffice..

Mapei mapeker and Ultra colour plus grout is one i would recommend and can be bought in any tile giant store..

Okay, thanks why rapid adhesive? And is there any trick with the top - the top doesn't connect to anything - or you just grout it to the wall as normal?

Rapid set will make the job to foot traffic quicker.. as for the top to wall..?.. lost me.

Hi, Sorry, I said 600, they're probably going to be 300x300/10 or 300/250/10; I see why you thought floor.

Welcome, but you'll have to ask for a suitable outdoor use tile, therefore a independant tile shop not a DIY shed, likewise for the addy and grout.

Thanks. Can I ask, I know an edging strip is usual, but how would you seal the top if the tiles ended halfway up the wall (other than using sealant)? Can you put some grouting in and treat it like a gap between tiles? Would that be moisture-proof?

Anything you can advise, appreciated.
