It will still be the pound sterling, the uk government will need to go into a currency union with Scotland as if they don't it will be total meltdown.
Look how the pound fell against the dollar yesterday.
There's a lot of lies & myths flying around up here at present & the u gov poll giving the yes vote the lead has whipped up a storm.
For years we (Scots) have been told that we are a burden to England but all of a sudden they change their tune when the referendum comes round.
We put in more to than we get back out but still people think we are subsidised...

They've always spoke a foreign language - Dalgeish, Strachan, Ferguson and it's only in Politics when they get to a position of power in England to they change to be understood!
We were up at the Edinburgh Fringe a couple of weeks ago and they were all Japanese buying tartan.
Went into a newsagents on the Royal Mile and the Asian chap tried to give me a scruffy blue £5 note back in change, when I asked if he had any real money he begrudgingly presented a proper note that I could spend anywhere in the Rest of the World.
Now I say the Romans got it right in 122AD with Hadrians Wall and you just have to remember what happened at the old Wembley Stadium when we allowed them some freedom - they broke the goalposts !
They should have this vote and if it's Yes for self rule, then every Scots born should be deported.
And if it's a No - then once we've used up all their resources, renamed the best fighting regiments after London suburbs,we should tell them they'd be better off on their own!
Just my input to an issue that will be decided hopefully by Scots people .

If the scots leave then they should not be allowed to share any of the british stuff, they will become a different country to the rest of us so why would we want to share anything with them, there will be new boarders and restrictions put in place, and passports should be used, this could even open -up old wounds for all of us,

If we do get a yes vote then it will lead to a lot of improvements in the north of England & make the rulers realise that there is more to their country than just London.
It's becoming a joke up here just now, we even had the labour battle bus in Cumnock today.
I even got to shout out the van at Joanne lamont that Keir Hardie will be spinning in his grave as she had her arm round his bust outside our town hall..

It annoys me that us British people haven't had a say in whether or not we should give away part of Britain. No doubt the Scotch will want it both ways, independence and support from Britain. They get massive subsidies up there already.

If I was Scottish, I could see a few positives and a few negatives.

I don't really care either way but I agree on this bit. You can't split a country up and only ask 10% of the population if they want to do it. We all have an opinion. If they get a say on leaving then why shouldn't we get a say on throwing them out?!?
And more importantly, why can't Leafy Surrey gain independence? We pay in loads too and it all goes up north to support all them work shy Jordie tilers who only want to fit 2 inch square Victorian tiles once a month. If it wasn't for them we'd be rich...RICH I TELL YA!!

i have not read up on this as much as i should and i am sure many others have not done so either until last few days when there is a panic on.
i am genuinely interested in what you are saying.
tell me what as head per population you put in more than you get out.
in the general domain in uk i dont think we are told that you are not getting a fair deal but our papers would say that i suppose.
for me personally i am just coming out of the recession with my company and looking forward.
i am sure you are feeling the same.
if scotland want independence then i understand that but i worry that both countries could really suffer . there seems to be so many uncertanties.
why is there a difference in dental care and university fees between uk and scotland.
surely if we are unified it should be the same for all.
