things will always go wrong it's how you react and solve the problem that's important, try and stay calm and don't panic. When i started I had a few people in my phone i could call for on the job advice - they really helped a lot - including when I sliced through the mains cold water - that was fun!

If i'm honest this is one of the best things that could have happened to you It's all part of your education. check, check and check again... oh and get insurance

Yup this very thing happened to me on my first job on my own. Put dust sheet on cooker to protect it. Started tiling the cooker space, really concentrating. Thought, these tiles smell funny.......they're a bit smokey aswell.........HOLY CRAP MY DUST SHEET IS ON FIRE!!!!!

I ran outside with the thing in my hands, flames licking up my arms, and stomped it to smitherines on the grass 😀

Absolutely crapped my pants and gingerly went to look at the damage on the cooker. No damage done, and a mental note to myself to make sure cookers are off in future.

Next day I bought liability insurance 😀
