Waterproofing Shower Advice - Tile Advice

Hello, hoping for some advise

I have removed plasterboard around my shower enclose to add hardiebacker or aquapanel boards. Only problem is on one wall I will be joining one of these boards to existing plasterboard that has been plastered and I will have a 3mm lip between boards.

What’s the best way of levelling out these boards prior to tiling?

Pack between the stud and backer board with a strip of 3mm hardboard or ply.

Don’t forget to tape this joint if it’s in the wet area and tank the backer boards.

As above, if you use hardiebacker you will still have to tank it
