Hello Guys, I've got a kitchen floor to tile which leads into a porch, but I have a problem with a small step (3 inches roughly) which seperates the rooms, do I tile to the edge of the step and leave it like that or do I tile the vertical part of the step. also when the floor is tiled the top of the step will have a rough edge where the tile has been cut, how would I tidy it up?

A metal step trim would be better here as it will take ware n tear from being stepped on at the edge, or mitre cut both tiles, one leading upto the fall, and the fall tile, that way you have no rough edges.

There are two types of trim you could use, a right angle piece to protect the edge of the tile or a proper designed stair nosing. Look at Homepage - Schlüter-Systems and have a look in the TREP section, its all stair nosings.
