Hi, just volunteered to replace the MIL's bathroom after her stroke as shes finding it hard to use her over bath shower (and the tiles are a crime to humanity as well so need replacing badly - photo to follow) with a shower enclosure.

Money is limited so Im wondering if it is essential to tank the walls inside/around the cubical, Ive fitted bathroom tiles before around baths with showers over them and never tanked them previously.

Hi

Good advice already, tanking shower areas is a must now that it is inexpensive and easy to undertake yourself.

Use Bal WP1, Homelux or check out WetDecs on here as he has offers on Dura wp sometimes.

It might be, that when you take the tiles off,the wall might be damaged!. Just thinking about using a backerboard. (a lot cheaper than they were a year ago!)

How about a word with social services to find out if their is money available for cases like this? Don't get if you don't ask!

may be worth a shout but I believe they assesed her home and fitted a couple of grab handles by the bath an toilet that was it

Speaking of holes when the tiles come off - can I just fill them flush with adhesive then tank
