I've only done a handful of residential jobs, and the ones I have done have been mainly for family & friends. Therefore, I'm not sure of how accurate my pricing has been. I did a job at the weekend. Here are the details:

Tile shower area with 450x300 ceramic tile (7sqm) in brick pattern. Make holes for hot/cold pipes & shower controls.

Tile floor with 300x300 porcelain (2 sqm). Making holes for radiator pipes, hot and cold water pipes & waste pipe.

It was the first time I had worked on porcelain. Boy is that stuff hard! Needless to say I used my 365drills kit. I will have to upgrade the wet saw blade on my Briccolina as it found it quite difficult to keep cutting without stopping every few seconds.

When I got the call for the job I thought I was going to tile the shower in 150mmx150mm tiles. I had a figure in my head of £150 for the shower and floor. However, when I saw the job and bought the materials (which came to nearly £70) I had second thoughts. Finally I charged £240 for the job. Job was in West London. Do you think I charged the right amount?

Cheers Sean

Yes Grumpy. £170 for labour. It took me 2 long days to complete. The shower tray was not level. There was Backerboard (put on the wrong way round) on 2 sides of the shower. The other wall was new 'bonding plaster', and the wall was bent like a banana. When I had finished I had one wall tile left over, and zero floor tiles. I only broke 1 wall tile when it snapped in the wrong place. The customer now wants me to tile his bathroom walls (based on £30 a square metre). At least I got to use my new TS-60 plus. Cheers Sean

I would have been looking at about £320, maybe a bit more if the large format tiles were hard to deal with.

not a bad price i might have have made it 250 because of the large format and half bond plus mats but then im a greedy t**t.

I'm always wary of charging too much. I know I should charge more for Large format tiles, Brick effect, Porcelain & holes. Plus the fact that I virtually had nowhere to work, as it was a very small studio flat...thus the job took longer to complete. Do you guys charge a percentage for large tiles & porcelain?
