I looked at a job last night they want natural stone on their down stairs hall way the floor is wooden floorboards may I add they are very flat and feel very secure so what do you think cement board it then ditra it out or just cement boards or just ditra

What stone mate? If it's soft such as trav, limestone or marble, go for both. I'd only be inclined to use just cement boards if it were slate. For what little extra it will cost, I'd always recommend both to be used.

Thanks for the reply bri I haven't seen the stone they haven't been collected bit it looks like soft stone to me so probably will need both definitely needs boarding t

I would lay both too. Difficult trying to explain to customer at times but there are plenty of failed installs to show them from a few threads on here!
