Hi guys, i need some advice from the pros!

I'm re-doing my bathroom but not too sure which way to go with the flooring.
The floorboards are in pretty bad shape and have warped a fair bit. Want to take them out and lay some plywood down instead. My question is; will 18mm WBP plywood screwed down at 400mm centres be ok?
I would love to be able to get away with 18mm as once everything is down, it should be near perfectly level with the landing floor (cheaper too!).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sachin

sorry but you would be better replacing it with 22mm for stability and i would also add extra noggins and screw down at 300 centres this should make your new floor alot more stable.
chris
oh and by the way:welcome:

How big is the floor area.?
What size are the joists.?
What spacings are the joists.?

Definately put in noggins and screw at 300 centres,22mm is best bet.

Hi guys, thanks for all the help.

The floor size is 245 x 200
Currently, the nails are in at 75mm centres
Not sure about the size of the joists as i havent taken off the floorboards yet.
The tiles will be 33cm x 33cm ceramic.

Also, any advice on which adhesive and grout to use? So far, the bal single part flexible looks a good bet. Any tips?

Thanks again for your help

Sachin

hi sachin, fairly standard size bathroom floor. if it was me i would definately use 22 mm marine ply and add the noggins as before this will strenghten the floor and reduce the risk of movement although it will be more expensive now to do this it will save you money in the long run. bal spf adhesives are one of the best brands just make sure that you follow the mixing instructions, i would also use a bal flexible adhesive pref bal micro flex which is an antibacterial grout.

to keep costs down, would it be ok to use 22mm P5 flooring grade chipboard to replace floorboards? rather than ply? this is for 600mm x 400 porciline tile..

cheers
