Packaged Tile Weights.

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi all , wondered if anyone knew if there is a max weight on a box of tiles. Cement seems to be down to 25kg these days.
Was loading out a plot this morning with P'nosa floor tiles ( the name has slipped my mind for a mo ) , 60x60 with 4 in a box and a weight of 34kg , nearly gave my self a bloody hernia.

Diggy :0)

RAK tile company take the **** with the amount they put in there box's. ..
My mates a posty and they can't exceed lifting anything over 11kg...lol

I have come across many of the Johnsons tiles and they have 2 boxes strapped together........heavy,cumbersome
and damn unhelpful! especially when the straps fall apart

Back in the old days plaster and cement was 50kg bags, European safety thing now 25kg...why tile manufacturers still go over weight but some of the really big tiles (20mm thick) must be nearly that with a 2 pack.

Just finished a bathroom with 10mm 900x450's, 3 tiles to a box..29kgs!! All stacked nicely in the garage when I started, had to carry em up two flights of stairs..knackered before knocking a mix up 🙁
