you cann't go wrong with a water level. Providing you have water at hand that is.
It's more accurate than a thiodalite. (think thats how lyou spell it)

Leatherface i am not knoking them handy in a bathroom just a point im making that a piece of string over 50 mts is better on a floor because even with a laser costing hundreds of pounds the dot is 10 mm + (if you can see it) and you only want the chalk line to be pinged at maybe max 4mts so it dosn`t follow the humps and bumps, used them sometimes worth having Pete

I've been using a Stanley CLL for months now. It's paid for itself on the time it's saved me. Just make sure you are at 90deg to the wall for marking or checking vertical lines. I know this is 3 weeks late but I've been very busy with my level!!

Sure you are correct, have never used a laser level on floors, don't see the need

Autocross laserliner 3.

Autocross laserliner 3 is the best level I have used spot on all the time saves lots of time setting out the more time you save the sooner you can get to your next job and the sooner pay day is. :hurray:

Good old fashioned spirit level does the trick, mark your lines then flip it around as you go and you have a perfect level to work to, obviously on larger commercial jobs laser/water levels are probably going to be an advantage, but each to there own, everybody has a different way of working.

That's fine - use what you think best. But don't always diss new technology.
It's like me saying - " Ehhh aave bin tiling for a hundred years now, dont use one of them tharr new fangled tile cutters, I just use a match and a chisel to score a line with. Or just nibble them with my dentures, ye young wippersnapper. I tiled Linconshire Cathedral all by myself for threppence a day when I were nowt but a lad and cycled 100 miles each day, and when I got back home my dad beat me until I was dead then sent me to work in the coal mine.
Embracing new technology can make life a lot easier. I can use both spirit level and laser methods - prefer laser where possible
