Hi

After having been made redundant earlier in the year Ive decided to make a career change and go into tiling. Im starting a 4 week course with PTS on monday and i cant wait, really looking forward to it.
Anyone else done one of their courses? Thinking of doing their mosiac course after.

I previously worked in the Design and Print Industry so have an eye for design and detail which Im sure will come in handy in the tiling, and have always worked with my hands.

Im used to working in a mainly male environment but out of curiosity are there many women in the industry?

cheers

Sharon

welcome to the forum sharon hope you enjoy your course and all the best for the future:happy:

Hey, hi there.

Theres a couple of women on here that I have seen so far, so you're not alone.

Welcome to the forums.

Hi Sharon, and welcome to the forum..🙂 .. I did the PTS course, at Harlow, earlier this year. Regarding PTS, i think it depends on who is teaching you. I wont name names but the guy that tought my group, we didn`t really think that much of..:icon9: .. If you are going to Harlow ? Try and get in with Tony or Keith, they were great and tought you in a way that you would understand what they were on about..🙂 .. I am sure you will have lots of fun there, and meet some nice people.. ..

Welcome to the forum!

I did the 4 week course at Chase Tiling Academy in Cannock. The tutor Phil mentioned a woman that did his course was doing very well. Think it depends on how hard you work at it. Best of luck to you!

Hello Sharon, welcome to the forums 🙂

There are a few women on this forum...Leanne, Anne, Wivers...just to name a few.

now , now gazza . calm down its only a female tiler and we know how jealous you get of tile fixers now u are knackered

Thanks Dave, I once  you,but recently have become the butt of your humour :broken_heart: meet me in the lounge now if you want to make it up to me bad boy

One sniff of a woman and everyone crawls outa the wood work to post a lovely reply. Any other new male tilers just get hi, hello or good luck, but Gaz has 8 pages of his best chat up lines (as tested on Peg) to use. 🙂

And i would like to inform you MR Varley that i am allllllll Man, as you have seen from certain pictures!

Anyway..... Hello Miss Tiler and welcome to the forum. I too am a PTS graduate. I had loads of trouble with the bloke who taught me. He was strange and had a weird fettish for taking photo's of mens bottoms? Also he liked to wear shiny leather Y fronts whilst teaching and asked everyone to refer to him as Big Wang??? I'm not going to mention names, and he has since left the job anyway to persue a career as a photographer for a magazine called " X-rated midgets-Uncovered".

Has anyone seen EA tiling about tonight?.......

I did the 2 week course up at Warrington and it gave you some usefull starting tips but it is when you get out and do it in the real world that you find your own way of doing things. Good luck with it.

Cheers for all the 'Hi's. Although Im now beginning to wonder what ive let myself in for going by some of the posts!

Hi Sharon,

Did a 4 week course in Warrington running up to Easter. Thought it was a good course but hard work. Lots to take in etc. Now up and running myself with work coming in.

Good Luck.

Grumpy.
