so if you saw the problem why did you then go ahead and fix the mats and the cover with laytex??? the gap between the wires should be 70mm all over if you had any doubt you should have returned the and used another supplier of heating mat. if you tile over these and you the get a hot spot of 2 sq mtrs what then?? it will prob be a little bit warmer at that point. but will you put up with it or make a fuss :mad2:

This is the first one, as far as i can tell the fixing is only there to stop the mat floating when you cover it in latex, which it seemed to do the job.

I must admit I expected it to be self adhesived or at least come with fixings.

Like I said, I called uheat and they said it was fine, so I went ahead and carried on.

but we will see.

If a company told you it was fine and then it wasnt would you put up with it?

The mats are manufactured to different spacings, some go to 50 mm for optimal heating, I have used uheat at least 3 times and never had a problem, I must have fitted hundreds of UFH kits, I suspect that you might have submitted incorrect sizes to uheat in the first place.

How could i have given them incorrect sizings?

Both the mats have the correct labels on them aswell.

may be the 200w mat should be 50mm and the 2m kit is correct, but the 10m kit is labelled incorrectly? the label on the box was fine too.

Were the resistance readings within the correct tolerances prior to installation?
If so, then all will be fine .
