Ive just ordered my hear from steve at uheat, very helpfull. I've opted for the 10mm boards, like you guys advised, I can always increase the height of the other floors.

Now to order the adhesives.

Try Tile giant.

Hi Guys

OK, so i'm preparing my floor and am nearly ready to lay the mats, however I have a couple of questions.

I have a concrete floor then 10mm of insulation then the mat, where does the temperature sensor go? should this be cut into the insulation board or go underneath it in the concrete?

Also, the instructions say to fix the mat, but there is no tape in the box, what should be used to attach the mat to the floor? I need to get this done today / tonight as the tilers arrive tomorrow.

Thanks in advance

If the mat is not self adhesive then you can tape it down at regular intervals or use a hot melt glue gun..

The probe goes in between 2 runs of cable and the mat cable should not run across the probe length.. so it goes in between the runs and out into the floor area to about 400mm and just groove the insulation boards to install it..

you will find installation instructions here>>> http://www.uheat.co.uk/pdf/mg_md_underfloor_heating_mats_manual.pdf

Well I received my mats from uheat, I was surprised to find that there was nothing to secure them to the floor as it seems that most companies supply this or its pre attached to the mats.

I was also concerned when I put the mats down and the 10m mat had gaps of 70mm and the 2m mat 50mm.

A call to uheat didnt install much confidence and they had to contact the factory, they called me back a little later to confirm that the factory had said this was fine, but I'm assuming these get imported from China and as an importer myself I know that the Chinese will agree and tell you anything, it's not in their culture to say no or admit something!

I will be doing temperature checks once the system is commissioned and if its different I know I wont be paying to have it sorted!

I'm confused by your comments, however, that is not to say they not factual.

I installed 13sqm (1 off 3sqm & 1 off 10sqm) of 160W mat from Uheat yesterday. The mats were the best self adhesive type I have used, much better than the tape systems, and the wires were all evenly spaced on both mats. I've never had an issue with Uheat customer service and always received an answer in the one telephone call.

Hmmm, just seen your pic and I see your dilemma. I'm sure you will still receive an even heat provided the mats are both 160W per sqm.

I know Uheat have only recently introduced self adhesive mats, so I must have touched lucky. I've got a 200W system to do in a couple of weeks, but that doesn't help you now :mad2:.

The last non-adhesive mat that I did, I used a glue gun to stick it down.
