Hi, can anyone please advise if hardibacker board is suitable for fixing to a wood stud wall for installation of 33cm x 100cm large format tiles around a bath up to ceiling height?

If not can you please recommend an alternative board.

cheers

i dont tank walls if im using cement boards on domestic showers

others do however so the choice is yours action

are these 12mm boards and do you mean the tiles are 1000mm by 300 or are they 100mm by 300

hi action, those board wil be strong enough yes

thereis no law on tanking but its a better installtion,i use it if im using plasterboard as plasterboard breaks down easilyt whwn damp and causes mould issues

backerboards do neither fo these if they get wet.....on a domestic shower if installed properly i dont think i need a tanking kit to be added to the backer board install

just my opinion

cheers kilty55!

next question.... what screws should i use and do you have any experiences with weber set SPF adhesive? I would like to use this for the floor tiles and will be instaling electric UFH.

Hi Action

i use weber spf all the time and have never had a problem with it, i think its great addy and strong.
you can get screws for backer board from topps and they also sell a cutting tool. you can probably find them elsewhere aswell. i did a shop floor using the 12mm boards as we had to raise the floor and cut them with a hand grinder, depends on how many you got to cut, cut them outside though and with a mask on,so much dust.
