Hi all, have a friend that had a tradesman (whatever) to carry on some home improvements on her house. well after she contacted me to sort things out, it appears the trade in question feels hard done to by not being paid for the work carried out. could I have some feed back with regards to quality... nothing else

Yeah, that’s lovely!

Unacceptable standards. The offender should be paying to have it rectified

So clearly we can see from the pictures that it’s not a great job, the issue you have is it’s gone legal already. (or it’s been going on some time and the legal route has prompted this thread).

DO NOT IGNORE THE COURT DOCUMENTS.

If you do, you will be ruled against and you’ll have to pay plus costs.

The issue you have is that quality of work is subjective when it comes to the law. It’s not as cut and dry as you think, which is why I was asking what form the legal process has taken.

What is important is that you reply to the court in a clear factual manner removing emotion completely.

Document the complaints in detail and in length. Then get an estimate or two of what it will cost to rectify the problem and include that in your defence. It’s effectively a counter claim. That should get the ball rolling.

Contact Citizens advice. Preferably via email as the conversation is then documented.

The fitter is deluded if he thinks that’s acceptable but agree with others and suggest that the law needs to be followed here in order to get the right outcome.

I popped round today to have a look.... terrible, all needs re-doing. Thank you for all of your helpful comments. no doubt these comments will help back up her case. liberties have been taken!

I’d be tempted to send the guy the photos. No covering text, no explanation whatsoever. Just the photos. If he continues with his court case then more fool him.

What room is it?
I assumed it was a kitchen from first photos now I can see a shower in second photos.

As above, this guy is no tiler. I would be amazed if he had any trade. After fifty years as a pro tiler I have seen some really bad work, this must be in my top twenty.

The reason for the three closures is just lazyness, he must have thought he could save cuting to the ceiling on that wall. and maybe no one would notice. WRONG,I think if this does get to court if the judge covers his left eye with a patch the type that pirates wear. then squints trough his right eye. then puts on very dark shades on he may think this guy shoud be paid, lets hope that justis prevails

bye the way was this guy wearing a patch? or a stettson good luck.

Are you sure it wasn't a chimpanzee pretending to be a tiler,, they've even been known to fly spacecraft.

But seriously it probably the worst I've seen, good for you for paying up.

A true work of art, beautifully enhanced with subtle black grout joints. This craftsman has reached the pinnacle of his career... NOT!
Seriously how can someone be that bad and be completely oblivious to their own mess? And still have the front to expect payment? Shocking. Hopefully you get the best outcome for your friend.
