globals:drool5::drool5: mind if you buy the smaller 6 blade set cr you will need to buy the global ceramic sharpening steel on top of that:thumbsup:

you trying to bring this thread back on topic for TF???

The smaller set is perfect as a starter kit, i'm thinking (the knives I'd use every day) I intend to add more as I go along, some of the more specialist bits and bobs although yes i'd have to get the steel straight away

Have you tried the global ceramic stone? I don't know weather I should go for that rather than the steel as I feel more comfortable with a stone than steel

:thumbsup: nice knives cr,youll be addicted when u get them and buy more as you :lol:said

Too right! I've already got my eye on this one, i'm thinking perfect for plasterboard

Ahhh Kilty, you may or may not remember that I was going on about some japenese blades I'd seen in Jamie Olivers Recipese shop but couldn't remember the name, well I just found them on the same site as the Globals, they are I O Shen. Never did get to try them out but I discounted them because of the wooden handles (wanted a one piece knive so easier to keep clean with a wipe)

i prefer a steel and the global one is ace,,they do wear out quicker than a stone though but for a domestic kitchen usage i suppose its 6 and two 3s,i like the plasterboard knife:smilewinkgrin::lol:

yeah i remmeber these knives you mentioned,im not convinced about any of the knife sets that the celebrity chefs put there names too infact any of the cookware they try and flog is generally overpriced and medium quality,or poor quality

I'm not sure he endorses these, just stocks them, but i'm fully behind you on some of the crap they put their names to, I mean that flavour shaker, what a load of rubbish!

Great cook and he has a similar style to me so have a lot of his cook books but I'm not a big fan of some of his chain resturants, he opened 'Jamies Italian' in Brighton and I know some of the cooks and suppliers and some of it is coming out of packets:thumbsdown:
