Can I pack out a wall at the side of a shower tray 40mm with celotex insulation board then tile it . What adhesive to use ?

do you mean the side wall? and if you register you'll probably get more replies (it's easy to do)

19x35 tile batten screwed to the wall. Cellotex cut in between use 35mm Cellotex then screw 6mm Hardibacker board to the battens to give you a surface suitable to tile onto. (i assume 6mm is suitable for walls but the pro tilers will be able to say for sure)

I think you'll need at least 10mm for a stud wall

tapatalk on my HTC

reduce you batten size and cellotex and increase you board depth as appropriate. you wont acheive exactly 40mm but a couple of mm should not matter too much.
