Had a call back to look at a job this week to look at a vertical cracking that has appeared in the wall tiling.
The tiles are 600 x 300 porcelain. The cracks looks like it is on a board joint.
All the walls were new moisture pb and additional studs were put in to 300 centres the job was completed 14 months ago. The strange bit is there is an identical cracking on the opposite wall. There are no cracks on the other side of the stud wall in the plaster or ceramic tiles.
I'm not sure why this would have occurred.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

No rsj underneath but there are new cracks in the ceiling below which was skimmed at the same time.
Not one to run away from a problem but it seems odd that it happened 14 months later and not sooner if it had been an installation error.

I would deffinately say it's down to some movement. What else can it be. You have done your bit right. It takes some to get a crack like that in porcelain!

Until someone tells you it's your fault, I'd do nowt!
We had to tile a new plaster wall in a bathroom and 6 months later they got the firm back to repair 2 vertical cracks 30" apart. How were we to know there was a blocked up doorway behind - it was just a plaster wall to us!
Had a job 20 years ago where the timber floor cracked on 8 foot boards - is it my responsibility to get a structural engineer in even when I'am not told about the 2 ton of granite going on the work tops.
Sometimes other people are to blame not just the tiler!
