Advice on Hardie Backer Boards

Hi everyone,
My first post, so go easy on me.
Im looking for info on 6mm Hardie Backerboards. I'm getting conflicting advice from suppliers. Im laying 600x600 Italian porcelain tiles to a kitchen floor, in the last 25yrs I've only ever used a minimum of 12mm exterior ply. However Over the last few years due to heights at main doors etc this has often caused issues as door levels have drooped to almost floor level. I feel it may be time to use the cement boards, the problem is some suppliers are saying you only need to screw them down while others are saying fix with adhesive then screw and tape joints. What everyone's experience with these?
Thanks in advance.

An honest answer......

If you listen to some folk they will say glue and screw.....

Some will say screw only.....

Some will say glue, screw and tape all joints....

Hardie say glue and screw but only use 12 screws.....

Yet Hardie put 39/40 drill hole positions in the board...........

Screws are cheap and if you use non rusting screws in the board with a big enough head, then that board will not move.

But you will not get a definitive answer because folk are
scared of failure and learning or experience and people with Pinnochio's noses or the actual company not able to give definitive answers because it is impossible to predict how a 'certain' scenario will perform

Hope that helps.

Just do it right, like John just said. Why risk it for the sake of a bit of adhesive and tape. Asking for a crack especially if you don’t tape joints. Adhesive is there to give it full contact with the floor not to stick it down

Hi all, I got a screen shot of advice from a hardie Rep which might help out.

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys. I'll be doing the adhesive, screw and tape method.

It just gets on my nerves the amount of conflicting advise from suppliers.

I'm with you on that. Yesterday I was telling a tech guy he was evasive and deceitful and his instructions were ambiguous.
