Hi all, im going to tile my hallway in granite floor tiles however i need some advice.
I have a modern house and the floor is solid.originally the floor had vinyl floor tiles and the adesive is still there in patches.
What preperation do i need to do to the floor before i tile?
Does the old adesive have to me removed? If so what is the easiest way?
Thanks in advance.

Ok.. try to remove what you can then use a SBR primer/cement slurry to aid in the adhesion of you tile adhesive.

On another note, are your tiles true granite or a resin conglomerate type.?

hi,thanks for that advice.
they will be true granite.just trying to make a desion on colour.
fancy absolute black granite.

hi yes its the high polish that i find appealing.
ill go for 12 inch x 12 inch, they will run through my hallway and into the loo and office area.my only concern is that the hallway has no window and is quite a dark area so im not sure black is best but love the way they look.

galaxy granite is nice stuff, i've laid it a few times, nice to cut too. my mate had a good deal from tiles and tops. google them, worth a butchers

They will be fine, the high gloss bounces light about.. Make sure the floor is really flat as square edge tiles are not forgiving with unevenness..

Just ask if you ned any recommendations on adhesive choice.. as long as you are using true granite and not composite then adhesive choice is simple.
