Hi ...

As of October competition onwards, we are moving JOTM into the open forums..

We want everyone to see the quality of work entered, this in turn will give winners more exposure to the public.. so in theory will work better for those that enter and those that win.. we might even get more entries..

So to confirm Septembers will stop in the tilers arms and then October onwards will be publicly viewable..:grinningelf:

Sounds all fair enough, it's good for good work to be public. Good call

Who can ote (my key between the c and b has stopped working again ) If its the general public then tbh im not a happy bunny and this is a bad thing

Looks like a great idea Dave, more scrutiny now but what about voting as above?
A big vote would be very interesting.

I'm sure the main sponsor (MAPEI) will do well with the extra exposure too.
Could be a winner all round.

What would the problem be with that for you, Chris?

I ha e no problem with exposing this com p to the open world Its a great high high quality competition and the winners should be ery proud of their work but if we let joe public ote it will make a farse of the whole thing.

I think it's quite a good idea and more entries and voter's will make it more interesting, but can ask if prep and progress pics be a must for inclusion too....

i think its a good idea....at 1st i thought keeping it in arms was for the best but i have noticed not that many people actually vote

Yes Stewart I like to see prep included, however, sometimes I don't decide to enter a job until it's done and by then the prep is gone!

The only reason I like to see prep, is to see if it's done properly. I wouldn't want a quality looking job to win if it's been dot dabbed on top of skim. It only takes a few seconds to take a few pics during a job.

I think it's a great idea. I guess it was initially confined to the Arms so as to be controllable. Now that the comp has evolved, I believe that it has become more manageable. The introduction of date stamping was a good move and a rule to include some "before" pics may also serve to enhance the quality and detail behind entries.

Long live JOTM.

It was introduced into the arms to reward those members but in our opinion it has gone stale and to succeed it needs more exposure.

Is it still only for pro tilers or can anyone enter, Davemul for example, his room is going to look cracking when it's done and the prep work is exceptional.

The prep point is a good and valid one imho, think the voting will be all the better for it this way too.

I think the inclusion of prep photos would be great. General public might appreciate what goes in to the finished product a bit more. But not everybody takes stage photos so would be a nice bouns to see not a requirment to enter IMO.

Think the move in to the open forums is a good one.
