Wet room floor levels

Just got a wet room job where the client has supplied all the materials. The floor is being removed and re-plyed with 18 mm ply. The customer is using warmup installation board and the tanking kit is the Impey system. They also want underfloor heating. One of my concerns is this will raise the floor level by almost 25 mm. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it? I would appreciate all input.

Sometimes this just can,t be helped.........but if the floor is removed then 18mm ply... then 6mm insulation boards ....then maybe 10mm tiles and maybe 5mm for adhesive and UFH....it all mounts up mate......

If you are using it as the main sub-floor...then i think 18mm isnt thick enough ..honestly........22mm 0r 25mm would be stronger....it also depends whether you add extra noggins into the floor structure this will stiffen things up as well......

Got a similar problem to this myself !

I am a bit confused about what I need to make a good floor but to keep the level down to a min.

The main floor is chip board which I was planning to put ply or insulation boards on top of before UFH and tiling :whatchutalkingabout

Which would you recomend ply or insulating boards or both, I don't want to end up with too much of a step up but realise a small one is inevitable.

Have you considered backerboards for stiffening the floor up? They are more riggid than ply, and therefore, slightly thinner boards can be used. Bit more expensive though. If you decide to use them, make sure to both glue and screw them down.

Ive just done a similar job this week but it was a kitchen and hallway UFH, the main problem I had was trying to find a carpet grip with enough space to fit the board and tiles without it slanting at too much of an angle towards the carpet. The main grips i found only allowed 9mm gaps.

There is an answer to this and its pretty straight forward as the floor is being replaced you use one of our cables and void heat. No building of layers tiles go on the floor no increased hight its your answer..........
