Hi all

I am looking to get some advice on a floor thats to be tiled with 600x600 tiles. It's 18mm plywood stright onto the joists.
Can anyone let me know if this is a good idea, if not whats the best thing to do.

Thanks

Paul

If no deflection in the floor I would put 6mm cement backer board on top and stick it down with SPF addy and screwed every 200 mm. This will give you the perfect subfloor to tile.

Hi thanks for the advice! should have said the the wooding floor area is the old garge joined onto the kitchen, which is open plan the kitchen floor is concrete. So putting a backer board would make a hight differance ging into the kitchen. is there anything else that you think should be done instead??
