is anybody else finding that their car insurance renewal/quotes are around £200 more expensive than last year? mine is!

I paid £360 last year for fully comp cover and this year my insurance company want to charge me £590 :yikes:

The only thing that has changed is that some animal crashed into my car and drove off whilst I was parked outside a friends house. That animal was tracked down and his employer subsequently terminated his employment for failing to stop and leave details at the scene of an accident. But still, that's no compensation for the fact that I now have to declare the "accident" as a non-fault claim. I'm told that statistically I'm now at higher risk, because I "might have left the vehicle in an unsafe position which led to the other driver crashing into it"

:incazzato::incazzato::incazzato:

And why do they want to charge you another £80 on top of your premium just to pay in instalments?? Surely it should be free to pay in instalments and then they wouldn't have so many uninsured drivers on the road!!

:mad2:

My Girlfriends insurance renewal was about £200 higher than last year. She has had no accidents and no claims. But it still went up?? The only thing that changed is that she now has an extra year no claims!!!

My van insurance was higher than previous yrs, so i shopped online this time and saved nearly 200 quid.....So i approached my insurer and they price matched...make sure you do a print off to take with you..

i can't shop online cos of the numpty that crashed into it last year  i have to declare that the car was in an accident.

and Tesco insurance won't insure me cos I'm not the registered keeper of the car :mad2:

It is ALWAYS cheaper to change insurance compnies when renewal comes around. New customer discounts make sure of that. Why these companies don't want to hang on to loyal customers by being a little generous to them is beyond me!!

Try Liverpool Victoria (LV) for car insurance as we have found them very competitive on price. We have a 2001 Toyota Avensis 1.8GS, registered in my name but insured in the wifes name fully comp. for £210 per year.

My 2005 Fiat Scudo 2.0JTD van is insured fully comp. with Swinton Commercial for £215 for both of us including business use.

Thats good for the scudo, I payed £350 for an 04 Transit and got that reduced. I know who I'll be checking out next year

GGR, if the other company accepted liability for the fail to stop accident, and I take it you had no claims cover, surely your insurance company can't hold you to count? You need to shop around IMO.

Definitely use one of those comparison sites, I saved over 230 quid!!! Felt low after being ripped off all these years though lol

apparently its all about statistics fred... perhaps my car was parked in a position where it was begging to be crashed into... therefore i must be held accountable. they log all the details into the database and read off what the computer tells them :mad2:

just got myself a car had to put it in er idoors name because the insurance is a lot cheaper makes me mad 😛ete

Sex discrimination pete.....my van insurance is cheaper if the wife is on it....😛rrr: i say.

and having business usage on my insurance doesn't make the blindest bit of difference now :yikes: i can do 25000 miles a year, and it will still cost me the same amount of money

fortunatley I drive a company car so they sort the insurance. Dread to think of the cost though if they didn't cos I been involved in 4 accidents in the last 7 years. Only one my fault though....

Try the comparison sites I have found that in some cases the same policy with the same company through a different agent/dealer can be significantly cheaper.

well I had a telepone directory delivered yesterday and I opened it and a load of leaflets fell out. One was for Aviva who were offering 12 months insurance for the price of 10. So I rang the number, gave them all the details, including the non-fault accident last year, and they came out cheaper than my cheapest quote :hurray:

plus they only wanted to charge me £27 interest over the year for paying by instalments because I have a good credit rating :hurray:

So that's my car insurance sorted now for the next 12 months.

better watch out :driving:

Yea I was the same this year about £200 up from previous year so was not to happy, but gave the insurance company a phone to tell them I was not happy with the renewal quote and ended up with a cheaper quote than the year before and home appliance cover thrown in.
So it might be worth giving them a bell before you change companies.

i rang them first mate. the best price they could do when I rang was £100 more than last year's deal, and then they offered an additional discount of £22 😛rrr:

they've lost my business. it pays to shop around.
