Stocks Tiles

Laying some 600x600 brilliant white porcelain and these have come with a protective film over every tile (like cling film). Removed a couple and it's left what feels like a oily residue, as a first for having this I am wondering if these need to be cleaned with anything specific prior to sealing? The water repels on the tile surface.

Thank you

We've come across this before. Stubborn stuff. can remain after grouting. But you could try this. Worked for us when we first came across it.

The finest possible white grout you can find, sprinkle it over the tiles, and gently rub and spread with a paper towel. Wipe of dry and the powder should have absorbed the oil.

Other suggestions would be Fullers Earth powder (applied as above), or you could try neat LTP Grimex with a white emulsifying pad and rinsing clean.

Once you've got it cleaned off, seal it and job should be a good one :)

I've had something similar in the past & im certain Ray had told me to spread some dry grout on the tile & it will lift back off after a rub.
I grouted as normall & they polished up fine afterwards.

Time's Ran Out

Just done 2 bathroom floors in 1 house in exact tile/film .
Peeled off, fixed, grouted, wiped down with sponge.
Back for next room 2 weeks later and 1st room was clean and fine despite 2nd fix plumbing etc. being done, no issues.

Are you saying the plumber left it clean and tidy after the 2nd fix?
