Hi all

I have been asked to put a low level shower tray in a freinds bath room, and they would also like me to replace the floor boards and put down laminate flooring panels, it's in a bungalow.

I am looking for some advice regarding the prep work for this and the best method/products for bedding the tray in.

I am thinking 25mm ply to replace the floor boards, I've read it is advisable to seal this but what is best thing to seal it with and should i do all surfaces even underside?? I read on another post about putting in noggings in at 300mm intervals, is this a must to meet build regs??, I understand the ply needs to be screwed every 300mm.

Regarding the low level shower tray, I have read many posts about bedding these and i understand there are different methods/adhesives to use, just can't decide which to go for. Lastly, is there anything specific I should do prep wise or for after installation repairs/inspection for the waste fittings?

Thanks guys in advance for any advice given, i have read posts relating to this kind of job, just want to make sure i have thought of everything.

Regarding the tray, whats it made of? Is it a resin tray or a lightweight one? Have a look at the instructions with it to see what the manufacturers recommend for fixing. All can be bedded in sand cement with a poymer added for flex, finsihing off the edge with that can be tricky though.

Check the laminate is suitable for bathrooms (it will have a green coating) and use 'clickseal' on each joint to kep the water out.

would prefere to bed down with a flexi addy myself on a timber floor rather than sand and cement

the tray is made of Acrylic Capped Stone.

The laminate flooring is the waterproof kind, suitable for bathrooms..... would i need to put in noggings before i lay the marine ply??
