I'm tiling a wet room at present and here is what I'm up against, what is this tray? No adjustment in the waste and it's set v high to the point the tiles need some real bed up. What's the best way to get the best seal here?

I'd walk away from that 'effort'!
What can you do other than build it all up?
One option would be to tile it first with 6 or 10mm wedi board to bring the level up?

Are there any weep holes around the drain above the collar but below the grate to allow the water that passes through the grout to escape?

No run off holes below the tile line. I'm going to have to build up the whole tray area basically. Not ideal but that's it. It's for a regular fitter I do jobs for, he uses whatever is supplied really, I've explained how Crap it is. It's got a large collar that goes into a recess on tray and you tile over that, (under the tanking) it won't leak, it might get soggy. I'm never sure weather to leave a gap upto the grate and silicone it up or but up right and silicone.

Go on a Wedi approved installer course or one of Schluter's wet area installation courses and your eyes will be opened!
