Hi B and Q are selling off Porcelain Tiles at the moment 600Sq in cream and black. I like the cream ones although they were out of stock, are these the same tiles, will cream stain as badly from grouting as white?
and will Lithofin protective impregnator be of any help?
thanks

Staining

I have resealed the tiles with two coats of Seal-Guard. This appears much more effective than the Fila product and also seals the grout too.

Advice from the UK supplier suggests that you should spray a coat ...leave for 2.5 hours then respray and wipe off immediately to restore shine. Personally I buffed both coats after they dried (hard work). No staining since Seal-guard applied.

I am still pursuing some compensation from Tops and B&Q.

Might be an idea to seal the tiles b4 you even lay them. That is not just pre and post grouting. Some of the staining I got was from the tile layer's trainers.

P.S. If I had my time over I'd have layed lino!

hi cford and welcome to the forums m8,yes that's the tiles we are talking about, why do you think they are selling them off cheap m8 because they barte mince.Subject to calibration9VARIATION IN SIZES IN SAME BATCH)STAINING.wOULODNT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGEPOLE BUT IF YOU DO MAKE SURE YOU SEAL THEM A FEW TIMES BEFORE AND AFTER GROUTING.

I saw some similar tiles at tile base in the sale for £20 sqm, how can I tell if they are good tiles or not and the same won't happen?

thanks,

hold tiles against each other and check for any size variations, check the colour under good light that all are of same shade.

I've just layed 9m2 black and cream polished porcelain from wickes...absolute nightmare...had to sort through all the boxes to pick out tiles which weren't damaged...3 seperate trips to Wickes had to sort through approximately 30 boxes of tiles in order to get 9m2 of good ones...one pallet they had in all tiles were destroyed because someone at manufacturing stage had numbered the tiles with a pen :yikes: which had soaked into the pores :mad2: ended up having to get them to get more in from other stores etc etc to top it off cutting those black ones is a nasty business. I sealed them with HG Impregnator before laying which was freaking hard work. :44:

Next job like that i'm going in v.high
