hey guys. am just starting out and it will be for more than one job.

seen a dewalt grinder on screwfix for £40. (no blade) whats it like??

I would buy the wet saw 1st m8 - but I bought my 1st angle grinder just before xmas from B&Q it was a Dewalt 850watt got on sale reduced from £49 to £28 (no blade ) not used it yet. Don't known if they are still on sale or not worth a look though !

if ya want a grinder mate and can afford it,buy makita, see Dave @ TradeTiler.
But a truthfull answer would be,buy a wet saw first

get a wet saw first. one for less than 100 quid will do most jobs nicely. the rexon from screwfix is good and costs £60.

my table ones bust! its going back!
how do u manage in such a small van medlar? im sure i must be doing something wrong as i cant fit jack in my astra van. love the van tho!

I did reply to ya PM mate,
I can get everything i need inside my van, except for full sized boards, but i can always have them cut to size when buying them,if i need them complete i just put on roof rack,i got shelves along the rear passenger side which carries spacers, nails, screws, aditives like primers, sealers etc,i carry trims along the top of the shelving,so really the floor space is for tools and addy, easy peasy mate

wet saw for me as well i bought a plasplugs contractor plus when i started out cost £70 quid still works well im in the market for a new one now looking at the dewalt d24000s bit pricey at £680 ooch!:santa_cheesy:

Both are invaluable.
There are so many sizes and kinds so you have to think about what you are going to do with them.
I have a collection of 5 different kinds of wet saws and 6 grinders (small medium and large and 1 wet grinder with many different blades, tool ends and polishing pads, plus a few dremels with again many different tool ends
and they all see use, some more than others, but it beats renting if you are going to use it regularly.
I would strongly recommend a wet saw (10 inch) as the first saw as you can do everything with it.
Using a wetbox and dropsheets will allow you work indoors close to your workspace and help you avoid long walks back and forth.
