Mapei limestone grout/Silicon

Hi All,

I always thought that all the ultra colour plus grouts had a matching Silicon. However, I'm having trouble sourcing Mapei limestone Silicon (colour 299) and now believe it's not manufactured! :mad2:

Can anybody help?

I've got a problem now because 1/4 of the floor is already grouted, so I have to decide if I ask DelW to remove that and redo it all beige, or if I put up with a mismatch (not really keen on that)

Have you contacted Mapei direct, I have seen it advertised and a client of mine used it I believe recently.

Mapei themselves have confirmed to me that they don't have any Silicon in limestone (299) and that basically they don't know if or when the Italians will make them some.

A very dissapointing result tbh, and something to look out for given the ultracolour plus grout range is widely regarded as having a Silicon to match all colours.

Kudos to DelW for putting up with our dithering in good humour while we try to extract ourselves from this bother.

have you tried seeing if the BAL range is a close match or SILIRUB COLOUR - Coloured Silicones

Mapei told me that they were waiting to see if 299 limestone grout was a seller before producing a matching Silicon. I've only used it once and wasn't impressed with the colour.

akemi do a good range of colours in Silicon

here is mapei limestone 299, it's a bit dark as it's still wet
i think you could match ardex limestone with some cream Silicon

take you pick between Jasmine 130 or Beige 132......whatever one you personally prefur...... the colour difference is sooooooo minor between shades TBH.......299 was a 7 year (more than that actually!) later addition to the range and therefore "matching" Silicon is not avaliable yet........

Take a look at BAL champagne Silicon. It was the best match for limestone (in my opinion).
