Leveling Compound Query - Tile Advice

Hi all

I have been told that new cement/plaster needs 4 to 6 weeks to dry before tiling. Is this the same for leveling compound? or can i tile the next day?

next day for levelling compound will be fine usually. Some you can tile quicker, say after 4 hours (Aditex, Bal Multibase for instance).

Mostly it is the next day....if a leveller say's within 4 hrs or so , it is usually only when the leveller has been used at its minimum thickness......say 3mm......but most times you will only use a leveller thicker than that because if it was only 3mm you could get thet with the trowel and adhesive ..no probs......

Always follow manufacturers guide lines.......

if its latex based next day is fine if its water based next is fine, if there is heat on if not the surface may still be greasy.

Most SLCs are tileable within 24-48h, but that number varies alot between types and brands. Read on the bag, or on the manufacturer website.

Also, if you're waterproofing the leveled surface, it'll need to have cured and dried out completely before you can apply the waterproofing, unless you're using one which allows for vapor diffusion.
