I've got Makita 18v, but you have to remember about recharging. If you go for something other than Dewalt then you will have to buy a separate charger and batteries. You will find that you will be using the impact driver for more than backerboards. Putting up battens or taking off doors etc........infact, I can only think of 2 extra things!!!!! Great tool to have.

Same as Sean above, if you have Dewalt then stick with them, the Dewalt impact driver is good.
I use makita & when you get an impact then the only thing you will use your drill driver for is for coring holes in tiles.

what voltage you got? is 18V not too heavy?

18v, there's no weight in an impact, had mines for years & the new ones are even lighter as they come brushless now.
Don't be fooled by the size of these guns they will drive a 100mm screw straight through a piece of CLS..

I'll second the Makita 18v, I have 2 of them, one for drilling, the other for driving, with a quick change set of bits.

I bought my OAP dad a 10.8v makita impact driver for his birthday, as he was worried about the weight of my 18v. It's fine for him, and generally does a good job, but the 18v is my go to tool, brilliant for first fix joinery, especially with decent cutter screws. I've even trained my wife to use it now :) Only downside, if your using it with stainless screws, it has been known to take the head off the screw.

if its only for hardie the liitle makita 10.8v is ideal really light and packs a punch
