So how long would it take YOU to change a headlamp bulb?

Bonnet up... Pull out the back of the headlamp.... Swap Bulbs...

10 minutes?

Of course it would. But you dont own a SMART car do you? I found out the hard way that a blown headlamp bulb will take an hour and a half. In fact it took me so long I made a little bloggie video for the "Smart Car Owners Forum" and heres why its such a pain in the aaaaa for us to perform a little minor repair.

I think the smart man, would not buy a smart car, lol. But my niece has one, and i'm gonna show this video to her fella, for future reference.

Like all cars a headlamp bulb will go sometime.... Now I have done it once I recon I can get it done in a flat half hour. But its a pain.

On the plus side:
1) 60mpg
2) £35 a year road tax
3) £7 a month insurance

But as SirRamic says the guys at Smart "Were not so Smart..."!

I have a Discovery 2 TD5. It took me about the same time to change a headlight bulb on that. The grille and affected headlight has to come off.

In my wife's T reg Almera I did the job in the dark and rain using a torch. in about 10 minutes. Another time in daylight I could see it taking less than 5.

It also took me a similar amount of time to change the front discs.

I took my BMW in for a service with a faulty rear screen heater. It took them an hour and a half to find a dodgy earth...... that will be £90 labour sir, hahaha.

That's not that expensive for main dealer service.

I've stopped taking my van to the main dealer now. They were giving me good value for money with their service packages but not any more it seems. Independent all the way now. The original outfit went bust and got taken over by a much larger group. Same staff etc but things have changed. Shame, especially for the dealer principle, who shared the same sirname as the dealership, making him a descendent of the founder. He is a really nice guy and stayed on in an advisary role after the takeover. I hope he lands on his feet.
