Hi,

I've just had my WC tiled in hexagon mosaic tiles. I've had the floor and half the back wall covered, per the photos (sink unit due to go on along with pan).

I'm not overly convinced the tiler has done the best job in the world, particularly around the basin area just below the bottom left of the window cil.

The tiler said he has a nightmare trying to get everything to line up given the uneven walls etc. and has said we won't notice a thing once silicone has been applied underneath the window cill to cover the unevenly cut tiles. He's suggested white silicone and the plumber will be completing this in an hour or so - I'll upload photos again once 'complete'.

I just want to get peoples opinion as it stands and if siliconing where he's suggested in the "norm"? I'm not convinced - Am I being overly critical?

Thank you

Is the cill not level? Even if it's not that's a big gap to fill with silicone . Are the sides without half tiles a "feature" ?

Hi,
The cill is level - agree it's a big gap!

Yes, "open" sides / without a cut are a feature

Pictures with silicone...(silicone still to be applied to sink once fully installed.

Paint will be touched up now the tiles are in (was just a base coat).

Agree, it seems for no apparent reason.

Scotia beading - would that not look out of place under the cill?

I'm thinking to put an acrylic splashback over the tiles (maybe iceberg colour), to go on top of the basin spanning the from both edges of the cills and from the top of the sink to under the cill.

How hard would it be for the tiler to re-do? Could he just remove the 7/8 dodgy tiles and replace individually, or would it better to replace the whole sheet?

When I questioned his work and said could he remove them, he said he's put them on a backer which would make it difficult to take out individual tiles and also said he may disturb other tiles in doing so too and may cause more harm than good.

Whats everyone's opinion to rectify?
