Hi, I'm a newbie and am hoping someone here can advise me what to do with my newly laid kitchen floor in order to get the staining out.

The pics attached show the staining SDC11119.jpgSDC11120.jpgSDC11121.jpg

The tiles were laid a week and a half ago on a recently screeded base so I'm assuming that the base hasn't dried out though am not sure. I daren't seal the top of the tiles until I'm sure what is going on. If anyone has any ideas I would be really grateful for advice. Thanks in advance.

Hi and thanks for the quick reply. The original concrete floor was very unlevel- upto 3/4 of an inch at most. We put several layers of screed down over a week or so before the tiler came to lay the floor. Is the stain permanent or will it dry out?

So you laid levelling compound..?

Did the tiler use fast set adhesive or slow setting.?

Yes levelling compound. Not sure whether the tiler used fast set or slow but I know he used weber flexible adhesive if that helps.

I'd hold off with sealing them as you might trap the moisture in. If your tiler has used a solid bed method it might just be latent moisture engressing from the substrate.

Doug, we just levelled the concrete floor that was part of the kitchen extension that was there when we moved in 6 years ago. Part of the floor was floor boards which we boarded over with ply and screwed down with screws every 4 inches or so (no staining in this area). No sign of damp previously. Thanks for your reply.

Jay, we thought about a leak but no pipework anywhere near the area that has stained. Washer and dishwasher plumbed in where the tiling is on the wooden bit of the floor. Thanks for your reply.
