floor adhesive going runny when put on floor

This isn,t a reacent think but has annoyed me for a couple of years now, hope some one cant put my mind at rest,
when i first started doing floors the first couple of times when i had mixed a batch up and it looked and felt firm and was the right consistency, when it was put on the floor and spread it went like water and that was with bal fastset flexy, any ideas what a was doing wrong???

How were you doing the mixing, by hand or whisk, water to powder, or powder to water?

And were you leaving it to stand for a while and whisking it up again before use ?

Or was the floor wet??
electric mixer is the only way to go nowadays.

Apart from not leaving adhesive to slum for the required time and not machine mixing : you must have too much water

yes well it was the days before invested in a mixer, so it was by hand, and was powder to water, thanks for all the replys a think it was probably a bit if everything that went wrong by the sound,s of it lol

I recently mixed some Bal Ebony floor grout with GT1 by hand. I didn't have any probs. Mind you I made sure I followed the instructions to the letter.
