it was Chris Grumpy. she did have her own tile retail outlet and as I said, she was very good with her teaching and knowledge of the tiling trade

Just to let the Girls know; there's a Female Only section of the forum hidden from all the other members so if you'd like access then please give me a shout.

Cheers

Female Only Section... so we gals can gossip about all the males without them peeking? :laugh4:

Hi leanne im just starting out on my own, I can basic tile a kitchen and bathroom,(self taught) but will be doing a course from the 6th April here in Essex to get a few more techniques under my belt (I will walk away with a certificate so that should go alot of the way to look more proffessional), also have u may have seen a few of my threads on here, , i have found the information on this site really helpful, as for the members they are agreat bunch and have made me really welcome, i will be goin to the tiling show at excel so any one who fancies comin with me let me know and we can hook up.

I have a few pics on the gallery of a couple of my first jobs , i got a porch, and hallway to do next, . and one guy wants me to tile his boat deck I have found a porfollio works so I always carry around a camera with me, oh and keep ure diary full up even if its only dates like doctors vists etc, it always looks full then u can say hmmmm im quite busy for the next few weeks I can fit u in in 2 weeks time though lol . Alot of my work so far is from recomendation.

Oh and by the way I also work in an office 9-5 , so most of my work is evenings and weekends which I will hopefully be able to give up depending on the next few months

regards
Julie

I suspect Leanne didn't carry on with the tiling so she doesn't really check back here much these days. Fair play though.

hey there,

I'm a female tiler, not long started up and desperate to get some work, finding really difficult to get established but don't think the timing has helped with this recession.

How about you, how you finding it?

Scoops x

Just found the website off trustedtradesmen.co.uk and registered. Wish I'd found it sooner getting about 12 calls a day, it's driving me nuts!!

Hi

I am a novice and am thinking of doing a week long, intensive course to learn tiling with a view to doing relatively small jobs such as kitchens, at least initially. I would be working in the Glasgow area.

I believe there is a hidden forum group for women tilers. if so, how do I join it?

Also, do people feel that a week's course would be adequate to then go out on my own?

There's a couple registered on here too 😉 They just don't post that much. There's also a couple who are going on a training course that are registered and post under one name.

I've seen a few about.

There was one lass who came on a course once and went away and got a nice pink van, or pink text all over her van (can't remember
fully) and then aimed her tiling services at other females. She had an edge on blokes competing with her when the work was for a female as she connected design-wise, most of us blokes are not too good with colour matching as you'll probably all agree. 🙂
Speek for yourself i've been doing B-day and Wedding cakes for years in all colours

Don't mind me while I bump some old but popular threads to see if the topic is still active in some way. Wondering if either the original idea or original issue still exists. I've done this with quite a few threads, so don't be offended if this is just jargon these days and not applicable. But I thought there might be a small chance a small percentage of the small number of threads might just be slightly applicable and the thread could get a new lease of life.

Reply to this if you've read a bit and have something to say. 🙂
There IS going to be a bigger chance when i do this, that the thread is dead. So don't worry if that's the case, just don't reply to it, and we'll all move on and let the thread drop out of view again.

Just bumping some of the older popular (sometimes not so popular) threads. Probably wont be current discussion these days but I just need to do it. So just ignore the thread if it's not current for you.
