As a supplier you can imagine I get asked a lot of technical questions by potential customers.

Some straight forward. Some need a bit of thinking.

I have to say the craziest (dumest?) question I got asked was today.

This is it

The listing for the 6mm diamond drill bit states in the advert 4 x 6mm Is the 4 the length of the drill bit or the quantity of drill bits for this order?

The listing is a little confusing. Many thanks Martin

Now honestly guys.... Is this just some idiot out on a wind up mission? Or is this a genuine bona-fide customer question.

I mean would we really sell a drill bit 4mm in length to fit into the chuck of a drill and then to drill a 9mm tile? I think I've heard it all now....

But I am sure in your trades you get to hear dumb questions all the time. Perhaps dumb is too harsh. Maybe naive is a better word.

If you dont believe me ( [DLMURL="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130046437571"]Check the ad out here[/DLMURL] ) Its right at the bottom of the ebay ad

I could understand someone with hardly any idea of any form of DIY thinking like that, but really, someone looking on e-bay for items I would of thought should be a different matter 🙄

Stunning, i've heard similar questions. I did have a file full of funny questions asked about mobile phones once but couldn't find it just when I looked.

Well, yes it is a naive question but that is the thing with ebay - People can ask questions without getting embarrased, many people don't know about DIY items and may even have been asked to purchase the item on behalf of friends/family etc...

Plus, the amount of con-artists on ebay, you really have to be carefull... I would read the advert as four drill bits... but no doubt some tosser (not yourself obviously) would write an advert like that and then post you 1 drill bit, telling you it refered to 4mmx6mm... thus making himself 4 times the profit!

Mmm good point. I guess people do ask more searching questions on ebay. In contrast today will all be trade so different types of questions. Today is Sunday and day one of the Tile and Stone show.

I was up there yesterday on build-up and I have to say I saw some top quality stuff on show.

A lot of stands are showing some really nice stuff. Should be a good show. As for me I am hoping to talk to distributors about doing bulk orders so the next 3 days are really important.

Lets hope some big chains take notice !

Better get up there.
