Thanks for your replies.
Yes it looks like it's been hit.
I'll check again today, I don't live at the property.
I don't know what condition the walls were in, but we had old tiles on there for years, no problems.
No pipes behind the walls.
It seems to be happening on all the walls with hairline cracks appearing (as in photo 1) more and more.
Our tiler used alot of adhesive, too much? Not dot and dab.
We'll have to take some off and see what's underneath.

I'd be asking the neighbours if they've heard any disturbances from your tenants. Looks like that walls had a good whack. Plasterboard underneath damaging as well i think has caused the transfer onto adjacent tiles.

The first photo is from a wall that is not hit by the door.
The second is from the door wall but is on the other side of the room.
Yes it's a rented property.
Re depth of adhesive, I would have to ask the tiler. Looked to me like he used alot.

Use of rapid set on certain soft biscuit tiles with glass glazing can result in crazing of the glaze and maybe worst case scenario is cracked tiles , but never seen them bulge like that, remove the affected tiles and examine substrate and adhesive bed.
