got a job the other night 12m2 conny floor travertine tiles brick effect lifted the carpet to check whats underneath looks like thick chipboard will this be ok to tile onto with a flexible adhesive or should i ply it out the wood seems pretty solid any help would be appreciated

if the chipboard is sound u can use a 2 part flexi !! but if u need to use white addy prob better overboarding!!

Two part flex adhesive onto chipboard, makes no difference how thick it is.Alternatively 6mm backerboard and single part flex is fine.Don't forget flex grout as well George (we do the lot) regards GAZZA

alternativly, 12mm exterior ply screwed down every 300mm max, be carefull of pipes and a single part flexi cement adesive, use a flexi grout also

Think i would try with the backerboard, is so good to tile to...single flex with a flexi grout..but as the Kapitan says if the chipboard is good then 2 part it and slap em down all day long mate

Good luck

Just kidding, i bloody did do that on one job...i was there for three weeks longer than i planned mate, i just did not know what i was doing lol the things you learn as you go alang eh??

LOL TJ,Good stuff eh?not to be used regularly, bit expensive, but for the job youv'e just done it is WKD,PS if the grout your using isn't flexible ,lob some BAL gt1 in there so any movement in ply won't shake the joint.
