best way for tilers to advertise?

Website, word of mouth, friends in the trade, Local papers , back scratching etc etc

I advertised once in my local paper. I was just starting out and thought it wouldn't do any harm. The only phone call I got was from another tiler asking if I had any work!!!!
Never bothered advertising again and I haven't even got signs on my van, word of mouth and a good standard of work will go a long way in building a customer base.

sweet as mate I called my local paper they wanted 104 quid for one weeks advertisement what a rip off lol

get in with the local tile shops so they can give your cards out to customers looking for a tiler, sign write your van, yell and yell.com, not everyone is internet savy, especially older folk, and they seem to be the only ones with any money now a days, local parish mags can be good too..

I thought of the tile shop idea but I don't really have a big enough personality to get in and make friends with them n a load of tillers am already doin that round here lol
