Wood's better

Hi,

I hope you can help?

I have a fully dry screed that the Plasterer laid like a ploughed field. I have used a floor grinder to flatten, I have vacummed and primed with 1 coat of SBR today diluted 4 parts water 1 part BAL sbr (as recommended by BAL for dust suppression)
I forgot to ask technical if I needed to apply 2 coats, have checked all literature and cannot find anything mentioning second coat. Please could you answer?

For information this is the plan:

  • Screed dry (over 4 months)
  • 1 coat sbr applied today
  • Marmox over that using BAL ptb
  • lay UFH
  • Mapei renovation screed
  • tile with porcelain
Look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Richard.

Thanks Dave,
So second coat not necessary.?
Appreciate you taking the time to respond
Richard.

Promise last question(s)!!!!
I think I hoovered well with my big Numatic Hoover, but will check tomorrow when dry for any residual dust.
However, is there a check for porosity? Drops of water pooling ??
By giving second coat of sbr can you over prime? And would it be same 4:1 ratio?
Thanks in advance
Richard.

A second coat will not hurt , but what you do not want is a skin... if you wipe your hand on the screed and it comes of dusty , then prime again.. other wise IMO it is fine.

Great, thanks very much. Have a good weekend. Very decent of you to take the time to reply.

hey no probs at all , and you enjoy your week end Rich ..

Will you pop back and let us know how you get on and treat us to some pics maybe.. 🙂

Will do. I'll take some pics in stages.
Be in touch (won't say soon as its my own extension!!!)
