I want to make a base for my wood burner from concrete and tile over. The wood burner stands on four legs and does not appear to radiate heat downwards. I have seen some glass mosaic tiles in a colour that matches my fireplace but have been told they may not be suitable for thermal reasons. Can anyone she's further light? Thanks C

If your tiling on to a solid base then an area of that size shouldn't have expansion issues, but use a grout that allows movement.
I'd be more concerned with the glass scratching!

As above. If it's a decent stove I would think that the weight of it would damage glass tiles when you install it.
Don't forget that the hearth has to confirm to building regs regarding it's size.

Yes it is heavy - cast iron. Aware of building regs too. Shame about tiles but it does make sense and they are not cheap so to have them damaged would be a waste. Thanks again C
