Dewalt 24000 issue

Can anyone steer me in the right direction please?

I've recently had a couple of full bodied porcelain jobs, both by co-incidence have been 600 x 600, and on both jobs I have experienced issues with the edge of the tiles sheering away right at the end of a cut (see pic).



I've replaced the blade (albeit with the replacement blade that comes with the machine), checked the alignment and also depth of cut. The cut bed is cleaned before locating a tile on it and I am not forcing the tiles through the cutter.

This is doing my head in so any pointers as to what I'm doing wrong / how I can resolve this issue will be very gratefully received.

did you run the blade over the tile cutting a track on the surface first ,i had a similar problem with garde 5 porcelain but running a track down the tile first eliminated the problem or you could plunge cut the back edge first then push the tile from the front if you know what i mean

Usually a break away like that would be pressure related.. as in pushing tile too fast..

Have you checked for blade/spindle wobble..?

Just to add to garys post... go in from one end about 10mm then spin around and come right through from the other way... works best sometimes with through bodied porcs like them..

Thanks Gary, that is pretty much what I've been doing to overcome the problem. Is it just because it is good quality porcelain that this is happening then? And not an issue with my cutter or blade?

It is a vitrified tile and some times they will break at the weakest point.. that being the back edge as you cut..

I had the exact same problem with mine when I got it - It was all to do with the height I had the blade set at:mad2:

simply dropped the cutting depth a little lower and it stopped - I needed to be cutting into the edge of the tile more (if you know what I mean 'Arry?):lol:

I knew someone had a similar problem, which was cured when they set the blade as low as poss.

I had some break like that and like mentioned above it is cured by setting the blade lower and not pushing so hard towards the end of the cut.
Easy to do as you want to get it cut already, but patience is the way.
Some tiles are just fragile and will do that.
Others will take the pressure and not give way.

i found that any issues i had were due to the wheel being set too high too. Basically when its set just below the depth of the tile the wheel is cutting down but also the rotation is pushing back and that can put strain on the tile. I always set mine now for maximum depth which has the wheel cutting down through the tile.
