Hi, can someone advise me as the best way to lay most types of floor tiles on wooden floorboards.I just think laying exterior marine ply of between 16 to 18mm adds to much height and heard layin 'no more ply' or hardy backer boards are a great substitute. Can you tile over ''no more ply boards' and the backer boards with confidence.Any help is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards.

Overlaying the floor with ply helps to strenghten the floor and prevent deflection. The no more ply or hardi backer etc wont strengthen the floor it just provides a more suitable surface to tile to.

Is there any deflection in the floor at the moment and what tiles do you want to use?

Hello and welcome....

Hardi etc is great to tile to but there must be minimal deflection beforehand.

I use No more ply but only on floors where there is very little to no deflection

Cheers for all your help guys. Theres no deflection in the floor and looking to lay either slate or traventine tiles.
Many thanks!

If theres no deflection then overboard with any of them boards mentioned and use a good flexible adhesive and grout and job should be a good un
