What is the most flexible grout?

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Am doing a floor job shortly where I'm replacing floor tiles, client has already lifted them and has asked me to find the grout that was previously used (ermmm... how should I know?). However, it is not an ordinary grout - it seems almost rubbery like a rubbery resin type stuff. Not seen it before and he want's to use the same stuff as he reckons its got to better than standard grouts given it would (and I agree having seen it) flex better. The floor is wooden with ply fitted.

Has anyone seen a grout like this - if so what's it called?

Thanks for your help 🙂

Yes I was wondering that, but I'd be surprised if someone went to all the bother (& expense!) of using epoxy on a kitchen floor in a flat... It was a greenish brown colour; not seen that colour in epoxy myself..

Is it very dark grey. ? Pulled a floor up a couple of years ago and whoever done it had used tubbed tile on wood floor adhesive and grout . Think.it was from b and q that was like rubber .

I had one the exact same yesterday, looked at a job & this is the type of adhesive used, it's a weird rubber feel to it & it's a pig to get off the floor.
Done one a couple of months ago kitchen floor for my mates mum n dad & he had used tubbed addy from B&Q & this was the same, an absolute nightmare to get off the floor.
It's some gear, was thinking of using it myself.. [emoji23][emoji23]

Yeah bet it is the same gear... Think Homebase sell it too. It was in a kitchen floor I found it. Some of the tiles were stuck down in top of carpet the other were directly onto floor boards.... Makes ye wonder what people are thinking when they do this...
Anyway if it is that stuff I wouldn't recommend it.

I was in my mates folks kitchen before the tiles were ripped up & there was only one or two that were broken.
When the floor got ripped up half the floor tiles were dot n dabbed & full floor was tiled direct to floor boards.

Ok thanks - I'll check out the adhesive grout combo stuff - I once used it yrs back and found it virtually impossible to use & never went back to it - but in respect of using solely as a grout that's another idea altogether..
