Wetroom prep for T&G floorboards and UFH

I have a wetroom coming up next month and and looking for a bit of advice.

The room is 3mx3m with 1200 former and free standing glass screen. The T&G boards look to be in good condition and well screwed down at the moment.
I need to prep the floor ready for tiling and was going to go with
10mm Marmox/Kerdi board screwed down
UFH wire system
SLC
Ditra matting stuck down with Flexi Rapid set
600 x 600 Porc tiles with Fexi rapid set.

Does this sound about right to you?

Also would you go for 12mm Marmox/Kerdi boards for the walls or 20mm

Cheers Kev

Hi and welcome.....Personally probably not worry about ditra with porcelain...if your stud work is 300 centres 10mm marmox, 400mm centres 12.5mm marmox and 600mm centres 20mm marmox....

I agree with Whitebeam, not much need for Ditra.

Keep the underfloor heating out of the wettest area, it makes extra movement by thermal expansion and dries the residual water more quickly so limescale builds up faster. The floor warms up really quickly as soon as the water is on so warmth under foot isn't an issue.

Put a few extra noggins under the glass it's going to be heavy.

Don't take this the wrong way, but, don't forget to tape up all the joints in the Marmox, can't tell you the number of people I see just putting up the boards without taping the joints.

I've stopped using formers and small tiles / chopped up large tiles for most wetrooms and use either maxi size tiles with linear drains or for tricky spaces I get a low profile shower slab made of Corian, HI-MACS or Stone. It's a lot less bother, much better finish and with fewer grout lines for the customer to worry about and clean.

Cheers guys all advice is welcome. The customer wants a bench putting inside the shower enclosure so was thinking of using 50mm Marmox as a former. Any thoughts on the thickness needed as the guys is of the larger size.

Make a box out of stud work, perhaps triangular accross a corner. Then cover it with 18mm Ply and some skinny Marmox.

I wouldn't be tempted to try and make a cantilevered shelf as the stress where it meets the wall is likely to cause you problems.

Cheers

Chris
